چکیده

are both defenses against and potential markers of reactive oxygen metabolite injury during ischemia and reperfusion. We examined the alterations in GSH and other myocardial SH pools during reperfusion in anesthetized dogs exposed to brief (15 minutes, n=7) or prolonged (90 minutes, n=6) regional ischemia caused by occlusion of the left anterior descending artery. Ninety minutes of ischemia followed by 5 hours of reperfusion, which resulted in myocardial necrosis of 43.9±4.0% of the area at risk, caused a 22% reduction in total myocardial SH groups (p<0.01), a 57% decrease in nonprotein myocardial SH groups (p<0.01), a 56% decrease in GSH (p<0.01), and a 62% decrease in non-GSH, nonprotein SH

Effect of losartan on NOX2 transcription following acute myocardial ischemia-reperfusion

Introduction: Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase-2 (Nox2) is one of the predominant sources of ROS production during myocardial ischemia-reperfusion and can be induced by angiotensin II. The evidence suggests that pharmacological blockers of renin-angiotensin system can exert direct tissue effects independent of their ability to regulate blood pressure. The mechanism...

Diagnostic Value of Ankle Brachial Index for Myocardial Ischemia in Asymptomatic Diabetic Patients and Comparison with Myocardial Perfusion Imaging

Objective: The ankle-brachial index (ABI) as a simple test which can detect peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Therefore in this study we try to evaluate the diagnostic value of ABI for silent myocardial ischemia in diabetic patients and compare the results with myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) results. Materials and Methods: All 149 diabetic patients in this study were categorized according...

Application of Anatomical and Functional Modalities in Detection of Silent Myocardial Ischemia in Asymptomatic Diabetic Patients- A Review Article

Cardiovascular disease (CAD) screening in asymptomatic patients with diabetes mellitus is controversial. An exercise stress test is a safe and effective initial testing for Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) screening. Treadmill stress test is not the best screening method for a particular patient who is not able to exercise, abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG) or positive exercise treadmill test (ETT) ...

ارزیابی غیرتهاجمی ایسکمی میوکارد در بیماران مبتلا به مشکلات قلبی

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of human mortality worldwide. Myocardial ischemia is a type of cardiovascular disease that increases with age spread. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare non-invasive myocardial ischemia in patients with heart problems in different age groups. Methods: This study is a causal-comparative study was conducted from July to O...

Acute effect of burn trauma to small skin areas on myocardial ischemia reperfusion

Introduction: It has been reported that traumas such as transverse abdominal incision before myocardial ischemia result in a significantly decreased infarct size. This phenomenon is named remote preconditioning of trauma. Since small skin burn is one of most common traumas, the effect of this injury on ischemia-induced arrhythmias and infarct size was investigated in a rat model of ischemia-...
